One Drayton Valley resident is hoping that more can be done to facilitate snow removal in the community.
On Dec. 22, Drayton resident David Schenk addressed council to voice his complaints about the lack of snow removal.
Schenk’s main concern was the amount of ice on the sidewalks on 49 Avenue which has made it difficult to drive his scooter.
“It is terrible to ride a scooter around. And you cannot ride on the sidewalks because they are half-shoveled,” said Schenk.
Council was sympathetic to his plight. Councillor Tom McGee said he had also heard from other residents who use mobility scooters, and speculated that it boils down to priorities on the snow removal schedule.
“Immediately, do we jump and do that, or do we jump and do that? Do we do the main roads or things like that,” said McGee.
Representatives of the Public Works department were at the meeting and had already heard some of Schenk’s concerns. They assured Schenk they are reviewing the Town’s snow removal bylaws to see how services can be improved.
