A successful weekend for the Drayton Valley Thunder as they racked up a couple of wins.
On Nov. 26, the Blackfalds Bulldogs came to town. The Thunder beat the Bulldogs 4-3.
The Thunder got the game going, scoring the first goal at 2:12 in the first period. Jack Silverberg scored with assists from Drew Sutton and Brody Tallman. Silverberg then scored again at 17:38, with assists coming from Stephen Kirkpatrick and Evan Forrest. At the end of the first, the Thunder had a 2-0 lead. The Thunder dominated the first period, getting 13 shots on net, compared to the Bulldogs’ 6.
The Bulldogs came out fighting in the second period, getting 15 shots on net, but they were unable to get one past Thunder goalie Jackson Berry. The Thunder managed to get one in the net. Brett Bamber scored on the power play at 3:44, getting assists from Ethan Browne and Kadyn Chabot. At the end of the second, the Thunder had increased their lead to 3-0 while managing eight shots on net. Blackfalds registered 15 shots on net in the second period.
The Bulldogs kept the fight up in the third period though, as Ethan Lund finally got the Bulldogs on the board, scoring at 8:55, with assists from Ryan Johnson and Jayden Joly. Not letting that stand, Kadyn Chabot scored for the Thunder at 15:36 to make it 4-1 for Drayton Valley, with assists coming from Hunter Price and Ethan Browne. The Bulldogs managed to get two more before the game was done. Ryan Johnson scored on the power play at 17:24, getting assists from Juliano Santalucia and Jason Siedem. Then still on the power play, Jayden Joly scored at 17:55, with assists from Brendan Ross and Jason Siedem. The Bulldogs were not able to get one more, giving the Thunder a 4-3 win. The Bulldogs managed 13 shots on net, compared to the Thunder’s five.

After getting Saturday off, the Thunder were back in action on Nov. 28 to face the Okotoks Oilers. The Thunder beat the Oilers 5-1.
It was a tough first period, as the Oilers came on strong, getting 15 shots on net compared to the Thunder’s five. But the Thunder managed to get one in the net, as Hunter Price scored with assists from Kadyn Chabot and Rylan Brown at 14:47. At the end of the first, it was 1-0 for the Thunder.
The Thunder went on to dominate in the second period. Evan Forrest scored at 7:51 with assists from Stephen Kirkpatrick and Drew Sutton. Stephen Kirkpatrick quickly followed up at 8:01 with another goal for Drayton Valley and an assist from Andrew Larson to make it 3-0. Ethan Casper picked up one more at 13:27, getting the assist from Evan Forrest and Lucas Krol. At the end of the second, the Thunder had a 4-0 lead. The Thunder managed 15 shots on net, whereas the Oilers mustered only five.
The Oilers came out fighting in the third though, getting 14 shots on net. Brendan Boyle finally got the Oilers on the board, scoring at 15:42, with an assist from Conyr Hellyer. That made the Oilers cocky enough to pull their goalie, causing the Thunder’s Kadyn Chabot to score on the empty net at 17:49. The final score was 5-1 for the Thunder. The Thunder managed two shots on net.
The Thunder now climb to fourth in the Viterra AJHL North division, with a record of 15-10-4 this season.
