Seniors in Drayton Valley in need of supportive living accommodations will soon be resting much more comfortably.
On Nov. 17, Alberta Health Services (AHS) announced that the Seasons Retirement Communities will be receiving 12 new Support Living Level 4 (SL4) beds.
AHS explains that SL4 beds are for people with more complex medical needs, such as chronic disease management. They also offer assistance with daily activities, such as meal assistance, mechanical lift or two-person transfers, and medication assistance.
In a statement, Mark Smith, MLA for Drayton Valley-Devon, applauds the addition.
“This is a great benefit for Drayton Valley,” says Smith. “Residents can be confident that they, or their loved ones, will be provided a high level of supportive living care right here in the community.”
Lori Sparrow, AHS Senior Operating Officer, Seniors Health, Central Zone, also welcomes the new beds.
“Providing more Albertans the opportunity to age in place, in familiar surroundings near family and loved ones, is an important cornerstone of enhancing care in the community,” says Sparrow.
This is in addition to 16 SL4 beds that Seasons Retirement Communities added last summer. The goal is to bring 40 to Drayton Valley.
