One person is dead and another in hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 22.
Breton RCMP report that on Nov. 9, 2021, at around 10:16 p.m., they responded to a serious collision on Highway 22 roughly one kilometer south of the intersection of Highway 616 in Brazeau County.
Breton RCMP were assisted by Thorsby RCMP and Emergency Medical services.
Breton RCMP say their preliminary investigation showed that a car was heading northbound on Highway 22 when it crossed into the southbound lane and a struck a southbound SUV.
The driver of the car, a 42-year old female from Rimbey, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 55-year old female from Alder Flats, was taken by STARS air ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Traffic was rerouted for a period of time while the RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene.
Breton RCMP and the RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
