The Town of Drayton Valley’s Public Works department is getting a new home.
The Town reports they have acquired the old Pembina Pipelines building to be the Town’s new Public Works shop.
Currently, the Town’s Public Works department is spread across three buildings. The Town says that consolidating the Public Works department into one building will save on rental and utilities costs. It will also give them the space to properly house all their equipment.
The Public Works department’s current main building was the Town’s original fire hall. Built in 1957, it became the Public Works building in the early 1980s. As the Town grew, more personnel were hired by the Public Works department, and more equipment was needed, leading to renting the two other buildings.
The old Pembina Pipelines building is located on 50 Ave, near McDonald’s. No reports yet on when the Public Works department starts moving in.
