A very successful weekend for the Drayton Valley Thunder, as the team earned a couple of wins on Friday and Sunday respectively.
On Nov. 5, the Thunder were down in Olds to take on the Grizzlys.
The Thunder came on strong in the first period, outshooting the Grizzlys 11 to 6. Lucas Krol scored the first goal of the game at 8:21, with assists from Daniel Kernaghan and Brody Tallman. The Thunder followed that up with another goal, as Evan Forrest scored, getting the assist from Brett Bamber at 14:53. The Thunder were leading 2-0 at the end of the first.
The Thunder kept up the pace in the second period, scoring just 1:01 in. Dylan Price scored with assists from Drew Sutton and Brody Tallman. The Grizzlys started fighting back though, as Kieran Raymond scored at 7:33 with an assist from Tyler Green. The Grizzlys picked up one more before the end of the second, as Aidan Coupe scored on the power play at 17:32. Assists came from Tijs Vreys and Joshua Zinger.
As the second came to close, the Thunder were still in the lead 3-2, but the Grizzlys dominated the second, outshooting the Thunder 18 to 11.
The Thunder came roaring back in the third period, however, to ensure their victory. Andrew Larson scored unassisted at 10:18 and scored again at 13:21, this time with an assist from Evan Forrest. The Thunder went home with a 5-2 win.

The Thunder returned home to the Drayton Valley Omniplex on Nov. 7 to start a four game home stand. The first to pay a visit were the Grande Prairie Storm.
The Storm came on strong in the first period. Jack Budd scored, getting an assist from Ty Toews at 10:17. Then Ethan Strang scored with assists from Nathanial Bierd and Aidan Feddema to make it 2-0 Grande Prairie. The Thunder were able to get one in before the end of the first though, as Kadyn Chabot scored with assists from Hunter Price and Ethan Casper to close the visitor’s lead to 2-1. Despite the Storm having the lead at the end of the first, the Thunder outshot the Storm 16 to 9.
The Thunder kept the momentum going in the second period. At 3:52, Brett Bamber scored with assists from Jack Silverberg and Evan Forrest to tie things up at 2-2. At 16:27, Moe Hakim scored with an assist from Noah Lamb for the Thunder to take the 3-2 lead. But the Storm were able to tie it, as Ethan Strang scored with an assist from Nathanial Bierd at 17:29 to make it 3-3.
The Storm took the lead at 1:34 into the third period, however, as Ethan Strang scored with assists from Kayden Skulmoski and Nathanial Bierd to make it 4-3 for Grande Prairie. But the Thunder were able to tie it back up on the power play, as Kadyn Chabot scored with assists from Noah Lamb and Stephen Kirkpatrick at 13:07. With the game tied 4-4, it went into overtime.
The Thunder scored at 3:19 into overtime, as Hunter Price scored, thanks to an assist from Rylan Brown. The final score was 5-4 for the Thunder.
The Thunder outshot the Storm 43-33, and went 1 for 3 on the power play.
The Thunder continue their home stand on Nov. 9, when the Bonnyville Ponitacs pay a visit to the Drayton Valley Omniplex.
