It was another rough night for the Drayton Valley Thunder on Tuesday as the team saw its losing streak extended to six games.
The Sherwood Park Crusaders visited the Drayton Valley Omniplex and doubled the hometown Thunder 4-2.
Logan Hauer with the Crusaders scored in the first period, with assists from Carmelo Crandell and Caelum Dick. The Crusaders led 1-0 by the end of the first.
Sherwood Park scored their second goal halfway through the second, as Brett Ursulak got one past Drayton Valley netminder Jackson Baerry. The assists came from Bode Hagan and Austin Cook. The Thunder finally got on the board, however, as Tyler Blocha scored, getting assists from Kadyn Chabot and Geoff Bjarnason. At the end of the second, the Crusaders were still leading 2-1.
The Thunder managed to tie the game halfway through the third, as Rylan Brown scored, thanks to a helper from Moe Hakim. Josh Rule with the Crusaders broke the tie though with an assist from Ty Hurley. Josh Rule then cemented the win for the visitors as he scored one more unassisted goal. Final score was 4-2 for the Crusaders.
The Thunder get their next chance to end their losing skid when the Drumheller Dragons pay a visit to the Drayton Valley Omniplex on Oct. 29.
