It was a very happy Thanksgiving for the Drayton Valley Thunder as they picked up a pair of victories over the long weekend.
The first game was Oct. 8, as they beat the Grande Prairie Storm 6-3.
The Thunder got things going in the first period as Kadyn Chabot scored with help from Dylan Price and Jack Silverberg to make it 1-0.
The Storm tied things up at the start of the second as Ethan Strang scored, getting the assist from Nathanial Bierd and Edge Lambert. The Thunder responded with two more goals, however, from Lucas Krol – assisted from Luca Ricci, followed by Dylan Price scoring and getting assists from Stephen Kirkpatrick and Hunter Price. At the end of the second, the Thunder were leading 3-1.
The Storm came on strong at the start of the third, picking up two goals, including one from Evan Gass with the assist from Benjamin Keon, and Jacob Visentini scoring the other with the assists from Edge Lambert and Alex Bernauer. With things now tied at three goals each, the Thunder went on the attack. First, Brett Bamber scored, getting the assists from Kadyn Chabot and Jack Silverberg. Next, Hunter Price lit the lamp with the assists from Rylan Brown and Drew Sutton. With just 18 seconds left, Jack Silverberg picked up an unassisted goal to make it 6-3 for the Thunder.
The Thunder then returned home to the Drayton Valley Omniplex on Oct. 10 where they beat the Olds Grizzlys 3-1.
The Grizzlys started things off in the first period as Brendan McBride scored, getting the assists from Noah Hackett and Aidan Coupe. The score was 1-0 at the end of the first.
The Thunder tied things up halfway through the second as Brett Bamber popped one in, with the assist from Evan Forrest. The Thunder then took the lead as Drew Sutton scored, with an assist from Lucas Krol. At the end of the second, the Thunder were leading 2-1.
In the third period, the Thunder ensured their victory as Dylan Price scored, getting the assist from Brett Bamber. The final score was 3-1 in favour of the Thunder.
The Thunder are back in action on Friday, Oct. 15, as they head to Lloydminister to take on the Bobcats.
