A tough loss for the Drayton Valley Thunder Tuesday night, as they were crushed 6-4 by the Spruce Grove Saints.
The Saints got the scoring going, as Brett Pfoh got the assist from Liam Hunks. The Thunder got one of their own, however, as Hunter Price scored with an assist from Lucas Krol. The Saints would not stand for that, and scored three more before the end of the first, with goals from Brophy Dunne, assisted by Logan Acheson and Shane LaVelle, another goal from Nikola Jovanovic with an assist from Jayden Davis, and Jayden Davis scoring with an assist from Will Holland. The score was 4-1 for the Saints at the end of the first.
The Thunder fought hard in the second period, scoring one goal. Rylan Brown scored with the assists from Kadyn Chabot and Brett Bamber. But at the end of the second, the Saints still had a two goal lead.
The Thunder had the first goal out of the gate at the start of the third period, as Grayson Reid scored with an assist from Daniel Kernaghan and Geoff Bjarnason. The Saints responded with two more goals, however, with goals from Cody Pisarczyk, assisted by Logan Acheson and Brophy Dunne, and Jayden Davis with an unassisted goal. The Thunder got one last goal on the board as Grayson Reid scored, getting an assist from Daniel Kernaghan and Geoff Bjarnason. But it was not enough. The final score was 6-4 for the Saints.
The Thunder now head up to Grande Prairie on Oct. 8 to take on the Grande Prairie Storm.
