Drayton Valley RCMP are making it easier for people to get criminal record checks.
Local Mounties are participating in a pilot program that allows people to get their criminal record checks online.
You are able to get two kinds of criminal record checks. A criminal record check says if a person has ever been charged with a crime. A vulnerable sector check is more thorough, and is usually done to protect vulnerable people from financial, sexual, and physical abuse.
According to police, doing your criminal record check online will take about the same amount of time as doing it in person, and the report will be mailed to you. You can also make arrangements to pick it up in person.
“The Alberta RCMP is always looking for new opportunities to modernize and streamline our services for all Albertans across the province,” says Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki, Commanding Officer of Alberta RCMP, in a press release “Online criminal record checks offer an accessible and convenient option. Having contactless service is also ideal in a time when physical distancing may be preferred.”
The service is only available to those who live in the Drayton RCMP’s jurisdiction. This includes the town of Drayton Valley, and portions of Brazeau County, Parkland County, and Yellowhead County.
