The Town of Drayton Valley is still weighing its options as to what COVID-19 restrictions to follow.
At a special meeting on Sept. 22, town council chose to follow the Restriction Exception Program (REP) for some town facilities, but not for others.
Currently, the Town has not decided what restrictions to impose at the Omniplex and Park Valley Pool. The Town is hoping to get more information from the province, and make a final decision on Sept. 29.
“We want to ensure that we have all the information before making this important decision,” said Drayton Valley mayor Michael Doerkson in a statement. “We want to ensure that the decision we make will have the least impact on our residents and families. It is unfortunate that, once again, the province is downloading these difficult decisions onto municipalities.”
In the meantime, the Town is following the REP at two town facilities: Total Works Health and Fitness, and the MacKenzie Conference Centre.
At Total Works Health and Fitness, everyone under 18 is required to screen for symptoms, maintain social distancing, and wear a mask.
Those over 18 need to show their proof of vaccination, or a recent negative COVID-19 test.
Over at the MacKenize Conference Centre, everyone over the age of 12 will be required to show their proof of vaccination, or a recent negative COVID test.
The Town will not be following the REP at the Clean Energy Technology Centre.
This means the facility is reduced to one-third of fire code capacity, attendees must be with household members only or two close contacts, all adult indoor group classes are suspended, and indoor one-on-one training and solo activities are permitted with physical distancing.
