Drayton Valley RCMP have located the person they believe responsible for a suspicious death in the Drayton Valley area.
On Aug. 30, shortly after 8 p.m., RCMP reported that a male was dropped off at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre with serious life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim was able to share some information with RCMP before succumbing to his injuries.
Mounties later identified the male as Johnathon James Paul, a 40-year old from Calgary. Paul’s death was ruled as suspicious, and RCMP put out the call to the public for more information.
Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section eventually found the scene of the accident – a farm located near Breton. RCMP believe that Paul was struck by a motor vehicle.
The suspect was identified as Bronwyn Hannah-Jane Luckham, a 33-year old female from Carstairs. Luckham was arrested in Calgary on Sept. 2.
After discussing it with the Crown Attorney’s office, Luckham has been charged with second degree murder. Luckham was remanded to police custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskawin provincial court on Sept. 9.
RCMP are still looking for video surveillance or dash cam footage involving Paul’s vehicle travelling from Breton to Drayton Valley on Aug. 30, between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Paul’s vehicle was a maroon 2005 Nissan Armada SUV.
