On July 8, 2021 at approximately 4:55 p.m., Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment were dispatched to locate a missing adult male who had been swept away while attempting to assist someone with their dog in the North Saskatchewan River near the bridge located near Highway 22 near Drayton Valley.
Drayton Valley RCMP, along with the Drayton Valley Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, and Parkland RCMP attended. Parkland RCMP, Drayton Valley Fire Department and Alberta Fish and Wildlife conducted searches with boats and drones on the river; however, the missing male was not located. The search continued on July 9, 2021, utilizing boats and RCMP Air Services; however, the missing male has not been located.
The Drayton Valley RCMP are asking anyone who is on the North Saskatchewan River for recreational purposes in the area or downstream to keep an eye out for any signs of the missing male.
