Crime is on the decline in the town of Drayton Valley. At the town’s June 30 meeting, Drayton Valley RCMP Staff Sargent Erin Matthews was on hand to deliver the latest crime stats. The numbers show that, in total, there’s been a thirty eight percent decrease in crime in Drayton Valley when compared to the same time last year. Breaking it down to some specific crimes, there’s been a fifty eight percent decrease in break and enters, a sixty percent decrease in thefts under $5000, and a forty six percent decrease in motor vehicle thefts. It’s not all good news, though. There was also an eight percent increase in persons crimes in the region.
