A dramatic 2018 police pursuit near Evansburg has led to provincial recognition for an RCMP officer who helped bring a dangerous situation under control.
Cst. Tyler Gale, now serving in Whitecourt, received the Commanding Officer’s Certificate of Appreciation at a ceremony in Devon on April 16. The honour stems from his involvement in a high-risk incident near Evansburg on March 29, 2018.
According to the RCMP, Gale entered a volatile and fast-moving situation during the pursuit of a murder suspect, acting in support of fellow officers to protect both public and police safety.
RCMP officials say his response during the 2018 event reflects courage, professionalism, and a strong commitment to community service.
“His actions are a credit to the force,” the RCMP said in a statement.
Cst. Gale has seven and a half years of service and continues his work with the Whitecourt detachment.
