May 1
11:00 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621/RR 83 – Member on patrol located a wildfire south of Hwy 621. Firefighters responded to deal with the fire, and luckily a firefighting helicopter crew were passing through the area and able to assist.
3:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Members responded to a report that an SUV had driven into the post office. Members determined that the driver had parked on the east side and hit the building after her foot slid off the brake and onto the accelerator. Driver was confirmed to be sober.
4:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male in an older silver Toyota appeared to be masturbating in his car in a parking lot. No plate obtained, and no private parts were visible, though the male appeared to be in the middle of something. Under investigation.
6:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported cable stolen from a remote lease site between Cynthia and Lodgepole. Under investigation.
7:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that other youths were harassing her at the skate park. Member unable to attend at the time but contacted the complainant later and provided some suggestions on how to deal with the issues.
May 2
9:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported that mailboxes within the post office appeared to have been pried open. Member confirmed there was no theft of mail, the damage was caused the previous day when a vehicle hit the building.
11:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reported that a white Ram pickup had passed her school bus while she had the red flashing stop sign out. Complainant was able to provide a license plate that had been obtained by a student. Member contacted the owner who advised it is a company truck and he would figure out who was driving. Under investigation.
1:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that two seniors were being victimized by a fraudster, after observing them put money in a crypto-currency machine in the Shell station several different times. Members attended and told the couple to stop, that it was a fraud. The male continued putting money in to pay bail for a family member. Members were able to confirm that the family member was not in custody and suggested they call him. Member determined that the “lawyer” who had been calling does not appear to exist in Edmonton, and that the phone number the calls were coming from was not traceable. Due to how the money was sent and the lack of any receipts, police were only able to prevent the fraud from continuing. Kudos to staff in the business for their assistance.
2:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported an attempted break-in to a garage at a property managed by the complainant. Member attended and observed pry marks on the door frame. Under investigation as there may be video surveillance.
4:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported a residence where the occupants were recently evicted had people using it. Members attended and cleared the residence finding no one inside, though there were signs of squatters and a dog with puppies. Members secured the residence as best possible and advised animal control.
5:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Complainant reported an SUV driving erratically, swerving and almost hitting a guardrail. Member attended the owner’s residence and located the driver who refused to provide a sample of his breath. The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving sanction and his vehicle was impounded.
10:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a young girl had been sitting outside 7/11 for over an hour. The child had told the complainant that she was there because her father was playing video games. The child wouldn’t provide information and refused to be walked home. Prior to members arriving the child had apparently returned home. Members inquiries and patrols failed to locate the child’s residence.
May 3
1:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Member conducted a traffic stop, driver provided two breath samples, both resulting in a “caution.” Driver issued a 15-day provincial impaired driving suspension as it was his second such incident. His vehicle was also impounded.
4:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol located a street garbage container on fire. Member extinguished the fire with an extinguisher. He was later heard suggesting he should be named an honourary firefighter, or at least be allowed to drive the big red truck once.
2:37 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant requested assistance as her dog had been hit and she couldn’t reach the vet clinic. Member called her to provide some emergency numbers and learned that she had obtained a location to attend in Edmonton after calling the Veterinarian’s office in Tomahawk, and that she was already on her way.
5:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a young girl outside 7/11. Member attended and located the 7-year-old who tried to run but was held for her own safety. The girl initially refused to tell members where she lived, but eventually her address and a parent’s name was confirmed. Her father arrived and picked her up explaining that this is becoming a recurring issue. CFS notified of the incident.
10:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Aspenview area – Complainant reported that his daughter was intoxicated and had assaulted him and his wife. Members attended and arrested the female, who was held in cells overnight to sober up. No charges at complainant’s request.
May 4
8:36 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complaint reported theft from a lease site that occurred overnight; fuel, batteries and tools stolen.
1:03 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reported a grass fire in the ditch, and potentially a second further up the highway. Member responded, firefighters already on scene. No other fires were located as patrols were made as far as Twp Rd 514.
4:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious male in a white cargo van trying to get into a bank using keys. Complainant advised the male that the bank wouldn’t be open, but the male went and got different keys to try. Member attended but the van and suspicious male were gone.
May 5
10:21 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Member responded to assist with a cement truck rolled. The driver reported that he lost control on a bumpy section, and when trying to correct a tire blew. No injuries reported and the truck was not blocking the road.
12:39 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle backed into trees. Under investigation.
5:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported that his duffel bag containing a dash cam and work gear was stolen sometime in the past day from his truck. Under investigation.
6:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her daughter had hit and scratched her while trying to get her phone back from the complainant. Members attended and investigated; mom did not want charges but was okay with her daughter continuing to stay at a friend’s residence.
9:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported that his two female cousins attempted to hit him with a golf club as they believed he had stolen a phone. Members attended and spoke to all involved, learning that the complainant had also armed himself with an axe to potentially defend himself. No one wanted charges or to provide a statement to police, and no one was actually hit or injured. Everyone told to stay away from each other.
11:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a panic alarm at a liquor store, which turned out to be a report of shoplifting. Members were advised that a female and two males entered the store and the female stole a bottle of “Pink Whitney.” Members were able to identify and eventually locate the female, who was arrested and held overnight in cells as she did not require any more alcohol (she was drunk). The female was also found to have an outstanding warrant. Once sober she was released to appear in court at a later date.
May 6
9:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported possible drug activity in a neighbouring residence. Under investigation.
11:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male acquaintance had sexually assaulted her at a local hotel. The male was located and arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing.
12:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a collision between a car and a mobile home. Members attended and determined that the driver was suspended and suffers from dementia. The car was towed and is likely totaled, and the driver and passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver will be appearing in court due to driving while suspended.
3:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to monitor an offender who will be in the area for a few months.
5:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Jubilee Ave – Complainant reported a dispute with motel staff who had entered their room without permission. Member determined that the dispute was caused by the hotel guest’s dog urinating on the carpet which lead to them being removed from the room. The hotel guest wanted a refund and staff were wanting more money to compensate for the dog issues. Both were told that police would not be intervening in the dispute.
May 7
8:23 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported fuel stolen from a lease site, occurred sometime overnight.
11:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complaint of ongoing animal cruelty. Under investigation, little information provided.
2:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male in the Drayton Valley area hasn’t paid for parts supplied, totaling about $2500 in value. Under investigation, but will likely be an issue for civil resolution such as small claims court.
6:10 p.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Complainant reported her dog got loose and is now being euthanized, possibly due to ingesting poison purposely left out. Under investigation.
6:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported suspicious activity from a business premise.
11:58 p.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported his daughter had made suicidal comments. Members attended and spoke to the female who was intoxicated but did not want to harm herself. Member was not comfortable with her being alone, so gave her a courtesy ride to a family members’ residence. The member then noticed symptoms of a possible overdose and had paramedics attend; she was then transported to hospital for assessment.
May 8
2:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member called to assist paramedics with the female from the previous call, who had become aggressive with paramedics and hospital staff. Assistance provided.
3:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Member on patrol located an intoxicated female stumbling down the road. Member tried to provide a courtesy ride home, but the female couldn’t locate her residence. Member then lodged the female in cells to sober up.
