Thorsby RCMP were kept busy over the weekend with a vehicle fire.
On Aug. 8, at 8:12 p.m., Thorsby RCMP and the Mulhurst Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Range Road 280, south of Highway 616.
Witnesses reported seeing a male running from the scene of the truck fire, and into the nearby bushes.
Thorsby RCMP determined that the truck had been stolen, and set up a containment in the area. With the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services, the male was located and arrested.
Brandon Chase, 29, from Wetaskiwin, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of stolen property under $5000, arson to property, fraud, and two counts of driving while prohibited.
Chase was released to appear in Breton Provincial Court on Aug. 25.
At the time of his arrest, Chase was violating parole and had an apprehension order out for him. His parole was suspended and he was returned to custody.
