February 27:
9:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being defrauded of $300.00 after she sent a deposit for a hot tub. Complainant later learned the account had been hacked. The Facebook listing included a number of items for sale by someone cleaning out a home for a relative going to a care home. Unfortunately, this is a common scam that is often identifiable by multiple items being sold at significantly lower than expected prices. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
12:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that some youth had been trying to open her door, harassing her dog and making inappropriate comments. Complainant has had ongoing issues with some youth and is feeling harassed. Member patrolled the area but didn’t locate the youth, and also checked some nearby schools. Member spoke to the complainant again and learned that after posting the issues on Facebook a parent had reached out and identified their son as one of the youths, and assured her that he would be punished. Complainant requested no further police action.
1:28 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 70/Twp Rd 501A – Complainant reported locating three deceased cats in a carrier that appeared to have been thrown over a fence. Member located the cats and retrieved them. Checks for id chips or tattoos were made with assistance of the local veterinarians office; no tattoos or chips located. Due to a Facebook post by the complainant, two different people attended and tentatively identified two as being their cats. Under investigation.
9:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park – Complainant reported being assaulted by an unknown male after his dog was attacked by the suspects dogs. The complainant had yelled at the male to put his dogs on leashes, the suspect then walked up and pulled a chain from the complainant’s neck. Under investigation.
February 28:
6:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – With assistance from members of ERT (Emergency Response Team) and EDU (Explosives Disposal Unit) a search warrant was executed on a residence after information was received. Multiple firearms including some loaded or prohibited, an improvised explosive device and a significant quantity of cash was located and seized. A 25-year-old male and 25-year-old female were arrested without incident and held for telephone bail hearings on dozens of charges. Both were remanded in custody by a Justice of the Peace.
11:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant concerned about lifestyle choices being made by a client in a group home and requested a member speak to the male. Member attended later and seized a bag of marijuana for destruction. Upon viewing the contents of the bag, the member suspects the male was a victim of fraud as the bag appeared to contain grass (from the lawn), some wood shavings and even a bit of dirt, but minimal cannabis. Member spoke to the male about life choices.
March 1:
10:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainants reported a youth had been assaulted by a family member. Under investigation.
10:43 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a stop sign missing where a side road meets Highway 22 in the Moon Lake area. Member notified highways maintenance.
March 3:
3:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – Complainant reported Milwaukee tools stolen from a job site, occurred on February 23. Under investigation.
3:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported youth stole $3.50 worth of candy from a store. Under investigation in hopes of identifying the youths and speaking to their parents.
4:00 p.m. – Parkland County – Twp Rd 514 – Complainant reported that while conducting contract work for a utility provider he was threatened with a bat by a resident who threatened to assault him if he didn’t leave the area. Under investigation.
