The town of Drayton Valley marked June 30 as a day for reflection and introspection. At the start of their council meeting that day, the read a statement into the record. In the statement, Drayton Valley mayor Michael Doerkson said that even though many of us didn’t personally commit these crimes, we have an obligation and an opportunity to do better. The town also acknowledges that Alberta had the most residential schools, and they’re committed to the important work of finding missing children at these sites.
