December 5
4:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members observed a male and female walk into 7/11 together after talking and having a cigarette. Members were aware that the female was on conditions not to have any contact with the male. 30-year-old Brooke Schmelzer was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently remanded in custody by a Justice of the Peace.
11:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Member responded to assist a Peace Officer with a traffic stop due to suspected impairment of the driver. Investigation lead to the driver being issued a three-day suspension and a three-day impound of his vehicle after he provided two breath samples into a roadside screening device.
December 6
12:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Third party complaint that a youth had been robbed the previous afternoon while walking. Member investigated and due to multiple inconsistencies, did not believe the incident occurred as it had been reported. Further investigation found that a different version had been reported to other persons. Under investigation to determine if the youth is a victim of a crime.
2:23 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that sometime in the last two weeks of November, culprits stole about 3000 litres of propane from a tank on a lease site.
7:16 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported propane stolen from a tank on a lease site. Occurred sometime in the past two days.
December 7
9:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that someone tried to steal his truck, sometime since 8:00 p.m. the previous night. The door lock and ignition were damaged but the thieves were unsuccessful due to a theft prevention measure. Under investigation.
10:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle seen leaving a bar. The driver provided two breath samples into a roadside screening device, resulting in a fail and a caution. The male driver was issued a three-day provincial impaired driving suspension and his truck was impounded.
11:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member conducted a traffic stop on a pickup seen leaving the area of a bar. The driver provided two breath samples into a roadside screening device, both results were “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and his truck was impounded for 30 days.
December 8
1:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff reported a fight at the bar, after which one male refused to leave. Members attended and located the male, but when another fight broke out the first male returned inside. Members removed the male from the bar and held him in cells overnight to sober up as he seemed unwilling to accept the direction to leave the area. A male from the second fight was also held overnight to sober up.
3:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop after noticing the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign or signal. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read which the driver refused to comply with. As a result, he was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and his car was impounded. Member then determined the male had an unendorsed warrant out of Edmonton, so he was arrested and held in cells for a telephone bail hearing.
11:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a female had been in a store and suspected of shoplifting. Complainant further stated she believed that the female was a repeat offender and requested she be banned from the location. Member to locate the female and advise her she is no longer welcome.
3:30 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported he believed he had been scammed after sending a $300 deposit for some feeder calves. Under investigation. Police do not recommend sending a deposit for items online as there is a high risk you will lose your money.
December 9
12:48 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported that someone had lit a fire inside an empty Seacan by the hall. Member attended and confirmed the Seacan had been empty and unlocked; member suspects the fire was to stay warm or related to the consumption of drugs.
7:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a male standing in the middle of the road yelling at cars and waving his coat around. Members attended but the male had left the area (see subsequent file for where he disappeared to)
7:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a male was in an apartment building banging on doors; apparently after being kicked out of a suite about 10 minutes earlier. Member attended and located the male who tried to flee on foot even though the officer was sober, in better shape and had longer legs. The adult male was located and arrested and held in cells for a telephone bail hearing on several charges of breaching prior release conditions. He was subsequently released from custody by a Justice of the Peace after his mother paid his $100.00 cash bail.
December 10
10:09 a.m. – Brazeau County – Buck Creek Rd – Complainant reported his Keystone Outback trailer had been stolen from his property. Under investigation.
11:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported his black 2010 F150 had been stolen, occurred sometime after 7:30 a.m. Under investigation.
2:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that he suspected his roommate had stole his backpack, after coming home and finding his things strewn about. Member aware that the roommate had been arrested the day before (see 7:43 pm on December 9). Under investigation.
2:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his truck broken into and some items stolen, occurred sometime after Nov. 8. Under investigation.
3:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a male being harassed by another male in a store. Members attended, suspect was gone but was subsequently arrested and charges are pending.
3:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male fighting with her landlord and refusing to leave an apartment building. Members attended and located the male from the previous file. The male was heavily intoxicated and arrested after he initially resisted police. He was held in cells to sober up and charged accordingly.
December 11
7:34 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported two vicious dogs wandering around the area, one tried to attack the complainant. Under investigation.
8:45 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR90 – Members attended a residence to inquire about the whereabouts of two wanted individuals. While members were speaking to the resident, a truck pulled into the driveway to drop off the two wanted persons. The pair exited the vehicle and fled from police. The female was located hiding in the residence and the male was located and arrested with the assistance of a police dog and handler. A third male was located in the residence and arrested as he was known to be on a 24-hour house arrest at a different location. 42-year-old Sean Porter and 29-year-old Jade Ashby were both arrested; Porter for his warrant and additional charges of failing to comply, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance; Ashby was arrested on her warrant and also charged with resisting arrest. 30-year-old Dustin Bleau was arrested and charged for three counts of failing to comply with release conditions. All three were held for telephone bail hearings, all three were subsequently remanded in custody by a Justice of the Peace.
