Upon arrival, Mounties say an 18-year-old victim was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim is expected to survive.
Investigators identified four suspects involved in the assault and have arrested and charged three youths with many counts, including:
- Attempted Murder
- Robbery
- Aggravated assault
RCMP say the suspects were taken before a Justice of the Peace in Westlock and remanded into custody until their court dates at the Alberta Court of Justice in Westlock.
As the suspects in this case are youths, their names are under a publication ban.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of a fourth youth and police say efforts are currently underway to locate this individual.
Staff Sergeant Jeff Sehn says RCMP believe the fourth suspect may be receiving assistance in evading arrest.
“The Alberta RCMP dedicated a large number of investigators to quickly solve this priority investigation,” says Sehn “It is clear that given the age of the youth, they must be getting assistance to evade capture. Those providing assistance could face criminal charges including but not limited to obstructing justice and parties to offence”.
Investigators also say they are still trying to locate the victim’s vehicle which was stolen during this offence. The vehicle in question is described as a Green, 2010 Mini Cooper, with Alberta licence plate CPL-5715.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the youth suspect or the stolen vehicle are being asked to contact the Westlock RCMP at 780-349-4492.
