Drayton Valley Enforcement Services (DVES) are reminding drivers of the consequences of failing to stop for a school bus with its 8-way flashers activated.
On Monday, Oct. 7, officials say a vehicle was captured on radar travelling at 70 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and had failed to stop for a school bus that was picking up students with its 8-way flashers and stop sign activated.
DVES says the driver was issued two tickets and if convicted, could face a $567.00 fine and 6 demerits for not stopping for a school bus, as well as an additional $193.00 fine and 3 more demerits for speeding, totaling $760.00 in fines and 9 demerits.
Drayton Valley residents are being encouraged to view the safety tips available on the traffic safety section of the Town of Drayton Valley Website.
