One of the suspects involved in a public safety alert issued Sept. 17, has turned himself in to police and a warrant has been issued for the second suspect.

Police say Dakota Patterson, 28, of Whitecourt, has turned himself in and has been charged with the following:
- Kidnapping with a firearm;
- Robbery with a firearm;
- Theft of truck;
- Assault with a weapon;
- Careless use of a firearm;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Flight from Peace officer;
- Fail to comply with firearms prohibition;
- Fail to comply with Probation.
Officials say Dakota was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.
Investigators have also issued a warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old Grande Prairie resident Santiago Patterson for the following charges.
- Kidnapping with a firearm;
- Robbery with a firearm;
- Theft of truck;
- Assault with a weapon;
- Careless use of a firearm;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Uttering threats against a person;
- Fail to comply with firearms prohibition.
While this investigation remains open, police say they believe the offences were targeted and are re-assuring residents there is no imminent risk to the community.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Santiago Patterson to contact the Mayerthorpe RCMP as soon as possible.
