ORIGINAL-Friday, June 21
Drayton Valley RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a hit-and-run with a cyclist.
On June 21, at approximately 1:10 a.m., a Drayton Valley RCMP officer noted someone laying on the side of the road just south of the city dump. The officer says they spoke with the male, who stated he had been hit by a car while cycling and the car never stopped. The cyclist stated he believed he had a broken leg. The officer called EMS and the cyclist was transported to hospital.
Drayton Valley RCMP say they are currently seeking public assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in the collision. Mounties believe the vehicle to be an early 2000’s Silver VW Jetta, possibly with a black front bumper, which will have damage consistent with impact with a bicycle. Police say the vehicle will be missing a passenger side mirror, most likely have damage to the passenger side front lights and possible red paint transfer from the bicycle.
Anyone who notes a car matching this description, or who may have footage of the area of 56 Street, parallel to Highway 22, between 58 Avenue and Township Road 494, on the night of June 20 to June 21, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 1:10 a.m., is asked to please contact the Drayton Valley RCMP at 780-542-4456, or your local police. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com, or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play.
