May 29
10:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a male sleeping in the common area of an apartment building. Member attended and sang a horrible rendition of “Wakey Wakey Rise and Shine” which caused the male to hurriedly leave to save himself from trauma to his ears.
8:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported his bike stolen from outside a restaurant, he suspected an acquaintance took it who owns a similar bike. Both parties known to police, under investigation.
9:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol located a suspicious truck at a gas station. The attached plate was not registered to a vehicle and a query of the VIN showed expired registration. Member found remnants of copper wire strippings in the bed and illicit substances in the cab. While on scene a male called to report that “his truck had broken down and he was two hours away but would be back to get it;” even though the truck was last registered to an elderly male. Member viewed available surveillance video and determined the “truck broke down” story was a lie and that the “owner” and a female had been in the store when the member arrived and ducked out the back door. Under investigation for possible traffic tickets and a potential breach charge. The truck was towed and the registered owner advised.
9:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant called to report his truck had broken down at a gas station and he would come get it in a couple hours. See previous file.
May 31
12:39 a.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Members responded to multiple 911 hang-ups that pinged to a residence. Members arrived to find a domestic ongoing, but the likely victim was not cooperative with providing information. To prevent continuation an intoxicated female was held in cells overnight and released without charge.
5:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported an acquaintance assaulted him at his residence. Member investigated and learned the suspect came to the residence, accused the complainant of being a crackhead and then punched him. Members located and arrested the male and released him to appear in court at a later date. The suspect stated he never touched the complainant and suggested members speak to his sister who had video of the incident. Members obtained the video which clearly showed the assault. Charges are pending.
June 1
11:59 p.m. – Parkland County – RR52/Twp Rd 514A – Two reports received of male lighting fires on the road, the first report indicated logs had been lit. Member attended with Fire and determined the items were rags, not logs. Member subsequently located the males responsible and warned them against further such behaviour.
June 2
12:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Old Eldorado School site – Complainant reported seeing a group of youth enter the site. Members attended and checked the site, no one was found inside the fences.
June 3
8:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a cheque written fraudulently on her company bank account. Under investigation.
June 4
1:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex campground – Complainant reported that a male came to his trailer and told him it was on fire. Complainant confirmed this was incorrect and the male left, but came back. Members attended and located a male who appeared to be in a drug psychosis, his running vehicle was found nearby. The male was arrested and held in cells to sober up and subsequently transported to a designated mental health facility for assessment.
10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported the lights out by 7/11, and that people weren’t stopping. Member attended and found the lights flashing red, indicating for drivers to treat it as a four-way stop. Member advised the town who had the issue dealt with.
3:33 p.m. – Parkland County – RR 72 – A Parkland County Peace Officer called to report locating a stolen vehicle that had been reported by a grader operator. Member attended, truck had been reported stolen from Alberta Beach in early May. Truck recovered, owner notified. Under investigation.
4:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 503 – Complainant reported a possible stolen truck on a neighbour’s property. Member attended and determined the truck wasn’t stolen, though the plate did not match. Two suspects were located and a number of illegal items were seized from the truck.
6:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex campground – Complainant reported an abandoned truck. Members determined it was related to the male dealt with at 1:15 am. Member was able to contact a next of kin to arrange to have the truck moved.
June 5
7:05 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reported a business yard broken into and a white 2003 Ford F350 stolen. Under investigation.
11:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Member noticed a known male laying in the grass. Member assisted the male in taking some food with his insulin and waited with the male until paramedics took over.
1:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Members attended to assist paramedics with an elderly female who had passed away. Not criminal, family notified, Medical Examiner will not be investigating further.
8:38 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reported a suspicious male came to his property allegedly working for a security company. The male had left prior to police being called. Under investigation, but members are aware an alarm company is canvassing the area for new clients.
9:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported a former school mate threatened that he would run her down while she was walking. The complainant advised that they do not get along and she believed it was said to upset her. As requested members spoke to the suspect and warned him about the behaviour, though he denied the allegations.
9:43 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported hearing two loud pops, possibly gunshots. Based on descriptions of the sound heard, member suspects it was fireworks. Members were in the area on unrelated matters and found nothing suspicious.
June 6
1:17 a.m. – Lodgepole area – Members investigating suspicious activity on a lease site located a stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. Members were able to relocate the vehicle on Range Road 80 but the driver had fled the scene. PDS (Police Dog Service) attended but were unable to locate any suspects. The truck had been reported stolen at 7:15 a.m. on June 5. Under investigation.
