9:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her daughter being a victim of sextortion after she began communicating with people online that lead to intimate images being sent. Under investigation.
11:14 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported an erratic driver heading into town. The female driver was reportedly doing her hair and makeup and nearly hit three vehicles. Member was unable to locate the SUV.
5:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported an older SUV had pulled into her apartment parking lot with no plate attached. Member attended and spoke to a female with the vehicle who explained she had moved it from one side of the lot to the other as it was in someone’s way. Member also observed it had a flat tire so the explanation seemed credible. The female was warned about driving the vehicle without proper license and registration.
May 17
10:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Mitchell Dr – Complainant reported a minivan parked near his house for the past half hour, a neighbour had spoken to the male who said he was fine. Member attended and spoke to the male who said he just needed a quiet place to reflect on life. Based on available history the member was confident that the male was not up to anything criminal.
7:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Multiple reports received of hay bales on the highway. Member contacted highway maintenance to assist and then attended and found most of the bales were broken up and no longer a hazard.
May 18
12:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Members conducting a bar walk located a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine on the floor. Member suspected the bag fell from someone’s pocket. Meth seized for destruction.
May 19
9:35 a.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Complainant reported locating a burned truck on a lease site. Members attended and recovered the truck but are awaiting further examination to determine a potential owner.
10:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported two unwanted males in a bank lobby. Members attended and located two males who were removed from the bank.
1:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/50 St S – Complainant reported a burnt-out green traffic light. Member attended and determined the main light was out but the backup was still working and traffic did not seem to be affected. Highway maintenance was contacted but they were already aware.
8:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Northview Pond – Complainant reported a male had been metal-detecting in the area of the pound for 10-12 hours. Members attended and spoke to the male who confirmed he was looking for some “top pocket finds.” No offence being committed.
10:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol observed a motorcycle pass by in the opposite direction at approximately 160 km/h. Member attempted to stop the motorcycle but it continued on and made no efforts to stop. Member did not pursue.
May 20
9:59 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/River Hill – Members attended a collision part way up the hill. The driver of a pickup with a box camper, pulling a trailer with ATV’s on board, lost control after hitting a bump which caused the trailer to flip and dump its load. No injuries reported.
11:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported garbage on her neighbour’s front lawn which was concerning as the complainant is trying to sell her home. Member spoke to the neighbour and learned her cousin was moving out and she was putting his stuff on the lawn to help him out.
May 21
11:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended to report receiving a call from his bank during which he was told to go buy gift cards and provide the “bank employee” with the numbers. Some of the cards were purchased by credit card so were able to be cancelled, several others were not. Under investigation, but the police would again like to remind the public to be wary of such fraud attempts and to perhaps make a verification call to your bank prior to taking actions that do not seem logical.
May 22
7:42 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported theft of copper wire from a lease site, occurred sometime over the past month.
