Fatality in collision between truck and train in Stony Plain

A pedestrian vehicle and a CN rail train were involved in a collision that resulted in a fatality on Feb. 5.

At approximately 3:56 p.m., Parkland RCMP say they received a report of a collision between a train and a vehicle at 50 Street and 47 Avenue in Stony Plain.

Upon arrival, emergency crews say they located one deceased person. The deceased has been identified as a 79-year-old resident of Stony Plain. According to Mounties, the initial investigation reveals that the vehicle entered the crossing as the train approached and was struck.

RCMP say they have now cleared and turned the scene over to CN as the investigation into the circumstances continues.
