Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. 10:24 am – Brazeau County – Easyford area – Complainant reported someone tried to steal a propane tank from a lease site
12:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that scammers are using his number to call and message friends and family and have also been sending emails. Member provided some advice and suggested she report to the Anti-Fraud Center
December 29
2:18 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Member on patrol noticed a commercial vehicle drifting toward the ditch, then turn onto a side road where it could again be seen drifting toward the right. Member conducted a traffic stop and did a MAS breath demand (Mandatory Alcohol Screening), which showed that the driver had alcohol in his system. Due to it being a commercial vehicle and as the legislation dictates zero alcohol for commercial drivers, he was issued a 3-day suspension
9:44 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported she received a call from someone purporting to be with Amazon and that there was some issue with an iPhone she had ordered. The complainant hadn’t ordered an iPhone and so the “Amazon employee” told her they needed to access her account. Complainant out approximately $2500. Under investigation
12:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported receiving a call from Bell about promotions for a new phone. The complainant provided some information before realizing it was a scam and then determined an account had been opened in her name, though it has since been cancelled. Complainant given some advice on how to proceed and monitor her credit
7:07 pm – Drayton Valley – File generated to document a collision between an impaired driver and a police vehicle that occurred when members were dealing with the impaired driving
December 30
12:26 am – Drayton Valley – 42 St – Complainant reported an intoxicated male threatening people and refusing to leave a residence. Members attended and offered the male a ride home or to sleep it off in the drunk tank, the male replied “I’ll f*** you cops’ up.” This statement indicated to members on scene that the male didn’t want police to provide him with options. The male was arrested and lodged in cells to sober up without any cops being “f-ed up”
2:45 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with an SUV and conducted a MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand. The driver provided two breath samples, both resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day suspension and his vehicle was impounded
2:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported a vehicle abandoned in a business lot since the prior evening. Member determined the vehicle wasn’t stolen and left a message for the owner. The complainant was advised that he could have the car towed from private property if needed. Member checked the following day and it appeared the car had been picked up
4:12 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reported his truck had been gone through at about 3 am and several items were taken. Under investigation
10:07 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported catching someone trying to break in to a business yard and then chasing them for about a half hour through the Berrymoor/Lindale areas. Member patrolled the area and located a suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The male driver managed to evade police and take off at high speed, though the member did get a good look at his face. Suspect in mind, under investigation
December 31
2:03 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Member on patrol issued a suspension to a GDL driver who had consumed alcohol
9:26 am – Drayton Valley – Ricochet Aquatic Center – Complainant reported that someone stole her iPhone while at the pool the previous evening, and that the phone was pinging to an address in Edmonton. Member requested Edmonton Police check the residence, which was done, but no one was aware of the phone being there. Member followed up the next day and learned that the phone had been returned; a person had found it on 52 Ave and took it home to Edmonton for the night as he commutes and nothing was open. He had since returned the phone
3:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St S/Hwy 22 – Member on patrol observed a female in a vehicle who had outstanding warrants and was not to be in contact with the driver. Member conducted a traffic stop and arrested the female for the warrants and for being in contact with the driver in breach of prior release conditions. She was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace
9:16 pm – Drayton Valley – RR 73 – Complainant’s reported what sounded like a rifle shooting outside or maybe in an adjacent residence. Members attended and spoke to possible witnesses who believed it had been fireworks; possible with it being New Years Eve
10:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported someone is ringing her doorbell, but when she looks out there is no one there
January 1
1:20 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported an acquaintance who had been at a location where a group had been enjoying a campfire, had left toward Drayton Valley and was driving impaired and suspended. Members attended and located the male sleeping in his truck, though evidence confirmed he had been driving. The driver provided breath samples indicating he was impaired, and as a result he was issued a provincial driving suspension and his truck was impounded. The driver was also given a court date as he was driving impaired due to a prior alcohol related suspension.
11:32 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a theft, possible robbery that had occurred the day before. Several bottles of liquor were stolen and a suspect had thrown screws and nails in the clerk’s face while escaping. Under investigation, suspect and vehicle captured on video surveillance
January 2
7:47 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member attended a residence to assist Fire and Atco Gas for a smell of gas. Atco determined there was only a smell of gasoline, no natural gas leak located
9:30 am – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence for a report of a deceased male. Death did not appear suspicious, though it was unexpected. Medical Examiner investigating further
10:44 am – Brazeau County – Complainant attended the detachment to report being sexually assaulted on New Years Eve. Under investigation
1:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – Member on patrol queried a plate on a truck which came back unattached and not a match to the truck. Member conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the driver being issued tickets for having no registration, no insurance and a court date due to him being a suspended driver. The truck was also impounded
January 3
1:54 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a suspicious car in a motel parking lot, car not associated to a guest. Member attended and determined the driver had parked there as he was waiting for roadside assistance, and had picked that spot as he had recently been a motel guest
7:47 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reported her vehicle had been rummaged through. Under investigation as there may be surveillance video
4:00 pm – Brazeau County – Easyford area – Complainant reported the theft of a large propane tank from a lease site, appeared to have been completed by using a tractor. Under investigation
January 4
2:51 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a suspicious older white Jeep on a lease site. Members attended the area but did not locate the vehicle. No apparent damage or theft noted
