November 9
8:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a large pelican case of tools stolen from his work truck overnight while parked at a hotel. Under investigation.
10:26 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported receiving a call from her “oldest Grandson.” The complainant knew this was a common scam, so swore at the male and then hung up. Rather than having a member attend to wash the complainant’s mouth out with soap, she was thanked for being alert to a possible scam and sharing the experience with her friends.
11:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 39 Ave – Complainant reported his 37ft 5th wheel trailer stolen overnight from a storage area near his residence. Under investigation.
12:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported that on Oct. 31, her house was egged, hit with cans of beans and had rolled oats thrown at it.
3:24 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Complainant reported that her ex boyfriend was texting her new boyfriend and that the texts contained threats. Member investigated and determined the suspect was breaching prior release conditions. Members located and arrested 27-year-old Brayden Heath on several new charges. Heath was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
November 10
11:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant attended the detachment and reported her wallet lost. A statement was taken indicating she had been robbed in a parking lot and that a male suspect absconded with her purse. Member investigated at the stated location but was unable to find any video. Patrols by members in the area did not locate the suspect.
2:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Member on patrol observed a female walking down the street who he knew was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with a condition of 24-hour house arrest. 25-year-old Sierra Sandy was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing to answer to the CSO breach and a new charge for possessing a controlled substance. Sandy was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace.
9:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a homeless person sleeping in the ATM area of a bank. Member attended and located a known female who was planning to write a letter. Member suggested she relocate to the shelter pods.
9:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Third party complaint of a possible breach of a release order. Complainant believed a male was coming to a location several times a day, possibly trying to get a female to breach. Member investigated and determined there had been no contact and that the male was coming to the location to see someone else. The person who was actually on conditions of no-contact was not happy with police and told the member to f&@k off.
November 11
1:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Anonymous caller reported underage drinking, with youths in the parking lot trying to fight people. Member attended and found no one, and the store clerk reported no youths had been in the store recently. Member called back the originating number; a male answered and said “what do you want moth######e#? The member advised the male he was speaking to police but he declined to provide any other information. Based on this and the previous call the members on shift were overcome with a sense of joy for being so appreciated.
9:54 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Industrial area – Complainant reported arriving for work and finding a male asleep in an office trailer on site. Members attended and located the male in a very deep sleep. The male was awoken and removed from the trailer and told not to return.
11:20 a.m. – Brazeau County – Three files generated for reports of theft of wire from lease sites at thee different locations.
4:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant called 911 reporting a home invasion; three males wearing masks kicked in her door. The suspects allegedly had a rifle and the complainant claimed to be hiding in a closet. Members responded and searched for the scene but nothing was found. Due to issues with the address provided multiple locations had to be checked. It was later determined the call was false and that the female suspect was likely trying to thwart a member who was at a location about to arrest a male on a minor warrant. The investigation is ongoing but charges are pending against a female suspect.
November 12
3:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – An off-duty member reported a white SUV driving very poorly, possibly impaired. Members located the vehicle and determined that the driver was sober but he had no license, and the vehicle was not registered or insured. Several tickets were issued and the vehicle was towed.
5:08 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a deceased male. The death was not suspicious and appeared to be the result of an overdose. Medical Examiner to investigate further.
6:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Collision reported by Dollar Tree, a white Dodge truck hit and relocated a cement planter in the road. The truck then fled the scene but a plate was provided enabling the driver to be identified. Under investigation, charges likely. Member contacted public works to have the scene cleared.
November 13
2:09 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a fight had broken out in a hotel room. Members responded and determined that one male had threatened the others with a kitchen knife and had then fled. No one wanted charges and alcohol was involved. Members patrolled for the male who fled but did not locate him. Members were able to communicate with him by phone and arranged for him access to an alternate place to sleep.
7:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported aa shed broken into, sometime over the past 36 hours. Under investigation.
11:38 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39/Hwy 759 – Complainant reported a pickup driving erratically, weaving about and speeding. Member was unable to locate the truck. Complainant contacted, believed the driver may have been texting. As a plate number had been provided the owner was contacted and warned of his driving behaviour.
12:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a male sleeping in an apartment hall. Member attended and identified the male as one of the four who had been at the post office earlier. The male admitted to using Fentanyl and had possibly received Narcan earlier. As a result paramedics were called and the male was taken to hospital to be checked.
5:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her 18-year-old son was the victim of online blackmail. Unidentified person threatened to distribute explicit photos and make false allegations online. Under investigation.
November 14
6:45 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 504 – Member attended to a report of an Elk injured in a collision with a vehicle. The Elk was located and euthanized.
8:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complainant reported a company truck stolen overnight from where an employee parks it. The truck was recovered later in the afternoon by Edmonton Police and two suspects were arrested. Under investigation.
11:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported receiving a registered letter with a cheque inside. The sender requested a cheque be sent back. Initial investigation indicates the sender, who resides in Saskatchewan is a victim of fraud and may not comprehend the situation he is in. Member is liaising with RCMP in Saskatchewan.
12:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 510 – Complainant reported a fraudulent charge against his bank account, possibly related to an email a few days prior. Complainant’s bank is dealing with the matter and required a police file number.
1:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St & Omniplex – Complainant reported a roof top pizza delivery sign had been stolen off a delivery vehicle and that he found it on a truck parked at the Omniplex. The complainant had spoken to the driver of the truck who claimed he bought it off Amazon, though his passenger said he found it. Member contacted the 18-year-old male and told him to return the sign as the complainant is able to identify if it is in fact his property.
November 15
09:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 avenue – Members got called about a theft of scrapbook supplies. Members spoke with the complainant who advised that during a scrap booking retreat a female had refused to pay for a $600 sum of the product. Members advised this does not meet the criminal definition of theft, but they will not just scrap the file, and will attempt to matt out a solution for them.
4:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 avenue – Police did a curfew check on a male who was released to serve his sentence in the community. The male was not home as per his release conditions. Members located and arrested the male. Male was brought before a justice of the peace, where he was subsequently released.
November 16
07:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 avenue – Police called a report of 2 homeless people sleeping in the stairwell of Carlton East. Members attended and located the 2 homeless individuals. The male was intoxicated and wanted for a separate offence and was arrested and charged. The female was removed.
