October 19
8:40 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported mischief overnight, his lawn had been driven on and destroyed. Member attended and determined the damage was not quite as bad as described; under investigation.
11:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported that her tenant had been arguing with her boyfriend all night and had asked the complainant to call police. Members attended and determined that no offence had occurred, and that the boyfriend had left prior to police arrival (possibly due to outstanding warrants).
2:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Wallet found at the post office was turned in. Wallet returned to the owner.
6:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported two males and a female shoplifted a significant value of product and left in a dark coloured Mazda 3. Under investigation.
8:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR73 – Panic alarm received, caller stated his house was on fire. Members attended with Fire Dept who were already on scene. Fire extinguished, damage was apparently not serious.
9:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – Complainant reported tools had been stolen. Complainant had been evicted with most other tenants at the end of September. Complainant was advised this would be a landlord/tenant issue as he had left the property behind after moving out.
10:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol stopped a truck after it turned in front of the police vehicle, causing the officer to have to avoid a crash. The driver was suspected to be impaired but refused to provide breath samples. The driver was issued a provincial suspension and the truck was towed. #Callacab.
October 20
12:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a female was refusing to leave, threatening staff and generally causing mayhem. Members attended and arrested the female who was held in cells overnight for causing a disturbance. She was released on conditions once she had calmed down.
9:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members responded to a male causing a disturbance at a motel. Members located and arrested 47-year-old Craig Abendroth who was breaching a condition of his probation. Abendroth was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently remanded.
9:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol noticed a vehicle with a burnt out headlamp and the remaining lights not turned on. A traffic stop was conducted and breath samples obtained, both of which resulted in a “fail”. The driver was issued a provincial driving suspension and the vehicle was impounded. #don’tdrivedrunk.
October 21
4:17 a.m. – Brazeau County – Dispatch received an open-line 911 call, contact eventually made with a female reporting a domestic assault. Members attended and investigated, which resulted in a male being arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing. The male was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace on conditions.
2:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members arrested a male who was on a warrant out of Edmonton. During a search incidental to arrest, brass knuckles were located. 30-year-old Michael Ruesch was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. Due to prior releases and conditions, Ruesch was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded into custody.
2:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File created to assist EPS with arresting a male on an outstanding warrant.
2:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported seeing a female in an SUV strike a male pedestrian. Members investigated and a female was arrested and released to appear in court at a later date. Parties involved knew one another.
3:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – While at the detachment on a related matter, a female disclosed that her ex had breached prior release conditions multiple times and had assaulted her. She also provided further evidence for a previous domestic assault file. As a result, the male was located and arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on new charges. He was remanded in custody.
7:42 p.m. – Lodgepole – Members responded to an assault at the bar in Lodgepole. A 65-year-old female was arguing with a 53-year-old male. The female got upset and pushed the male causing him to fall and hit his head. Members attended and investigated. The female was arrested for assault and released to appear in court at a later date.
October 22
10:59 a.m. – Brazeau County – Assist file created to execute a warrant on a local male who had a warrant out of Edmonton.
3:22 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Member on patrol noticed a vehicle travelling slowly and crossing the white fog line. A traffic stop was conducted and a MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read. After about a dozen unsuccessful attempts to obtain breath samples the female driver was issued a provincial suspension and the car was impounded. #Drivesober.
3:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a dark green Chevy 4×4 with a loud muffler has been speeding past his home. Member unable to locate the vehicle at the time and no plate was obtained. If this could be you, and you drive such a vehicle, please understand not everyone thinks you’re super cool.
7:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/45 Ave – Member on patrol observed a car with a burnt-out taillight and also observed some very questionable driving. Traffic stop conducted and a MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand given. The female driver was given multiple opportunities to provide a breath sample and failed to do so. She was issued a provincial driving suspension and the car was impounded. Drinking and Driving kills.
October 23
3:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious black car with three males frequenting the area of 7/11. Vehicle seems to attend the area when the store is empty. Complainant reported that the previous night a female felt the car had been following her. Car had since left, but came back after about a half hour.
8:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported the catalytic converter stolen from his car on October 21, while parked in a motel parking lot. Under investigation.
9:08 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported a male attempted to steal a pickup from a business yard, but was unable to get it started. Suspect then stole the insurance and registration. Under investigation.
2:44 p.m. – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported some jewelry missing after a family member had friends over while she was away; occurred sometime in September. Under investigation.
October 24
8:06 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence with paramedics for a report that a male had been stabbed multiple times. Members attended the scene and arrested the suspect without incident. The male victim was transported to hospital in Edmonton for treatment of serious injuries. Investigation ongoing, but a male in his 20’s was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace. All parties were known to each other and there is no risk to the community.
8:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported someone threw pumpkins at her residence overnight. Complainant has a suspect in mind. Under investigation.
2:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a debt collector repeatedly calling a business looking for a former employee. Member called the “debt collector” and told him to stop. The collector said “you’re not the police” and hung-up, though he apparently didn’t call back. Calls are coming from out of province and the company believed to be associated, has dozens of reports across Canada.
October 25
9:36 a.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported his 2001 Chevrolet pickup stolen from his residence sometime overnight. Under investigation.
4:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported a shoplifting incident. Under investigation.
5:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member arrested a male wanted on a Canada-wide immigration warrant. The male was released on the direction of the CBSA and his foreign passport was seized.
6:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported losing his wallet while grocery shopping. The store had been contacted but the wallet hadn’t been turned in. Complainant advised to cancel cards etc.
10:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Hotel desk clerk called 911 reporting that she received a call from a private number with a male claiming he was on the second floor and being approached by a male with a gun. The male wouldn’t provide his name or other details, but believed he was being kidnapped. Members attended and checked all the halls and video surveillance and found nothing suspicious. This may have been an attempt to distract police from other criminal activity or an incident of “swatting” (making a fake call to police in an attempt to have a large number of police respond to a location).
October 26
6:35 am – Drayton Valley – RR73/58 Ave – Member attended to a report of an injured deer in the ditch. The deer was found to have two apparent broken legs, so was euthanized.
