The Town of Drayton Valley’s Planning and Development team has started an initiative to refresh the current Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Land Use Bylaw.
According to Town officials, the MDP is a municipal planning tool used by the Town that sets long-term framework for growth and development in the community. It is required by provincial legislation and outlines the long-term vision for the town – a “big-picture” document.
The Land Use Bylaw, meanwhile, is described as a municipal planning tool used by the Town to regulate all land uses and buildings within town boundaries – zoning areas into residential, commercial, and industrial districts.
Officials say the goal of the MDP & Land Use Bylaw Refresh project is to ensure consistency, clarity, and user-friendliness for the community. As part of the initiative, the Planning and Development team will be offering a substantial public engagement component, including a survey and open house, where residents and stakeholders can offer their feedback.
The survey is now live at https://pulltogetherdraytonvalley.ca/municipal….
“Input from the community is important, and we look forward to reviewing survey responses,” say Town officials.
In addition, an open house will be held on Dec. 7, 2023, at the CETC. The Town invites everyone to join them at this event for more information on the project, and to provide further feedback.
