Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. July 28
5:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a truck and stock trailer possibly related to an ongoing Amber Alert at the Petro Can on 50 St South. Members were unable to locate the vehicle to check if it was related, neighbouring detachments advised also. Amber Alert cancelled the next day when those involved were located elsewhere.
9:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Members on patrol located a known male in the drivers seat of a vehicle. The 2007 Acura was confirmed stolen out of Canmore. 29-year-old Michael Ruesch of Drayton Valley was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Breach of a Release Order and Forgery. After a Judicial Interim Release hearing via phone, Ruesch was remanded in custody to appear at a later date.
10:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female walking around with ski goggles and no shoes. Members attended and located a female experiencing an apparent intoxication by drugs. The female was arrested and held in cells until sober. She was released and requested to provide a favourable review of her time in cells on Google.
July 29
2:21 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported she had been staying with friends with her fiancé and paying rent as a roommate, but they have now been asked to leave. Member advised her that it was due to suspected drugs being found and that they could reportedly go get their stuff but were no longer welcome as roommates.
6:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Member on patrol was flagged down by a passerby who advised of a female with a bike who was “rolling around on the ground, flailing and yelling.” Member located the known female walking down the street with her bike. The female explained she has some mental health issues (police already aware) and was just having an off day, but was otherwise okay.
July 30
12:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that while in a restaurant with friends, a friend’s video camera was stolen from the table, even though the table was always occupied. Complainant suspected a staff member but there was no evidence to support that allegation.
11:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members investigated a domestic assault reported to Edmonton Police that occurred in Drayton Valley. A male was located and arrested, and held for a telephone bail hearing. The male was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date; $500 cash bail for the Drayton Valley and Edmonton charges.
July 31
7:46 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported suspicious activity behind the Agra building. Three persons had been in the area the night before having a fire and had some items with them that were possibly stolen. One person returned and was loading stuff up that had been left behind. Member attended but the suspect was gone.
11:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported dogs in a parked truck, in direct sun and had been there for nearly 3 hours. Member attended and found all windows down and the dogs not showing any signs of distress. Owner of the truck was contacted and nearby for an appointment and almost done. Member waited and spoke to the truck owner and provided some guidance on why to not leave animals in vehicles.
4:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Members on foot patrol downtown observed a male in a Cadillac Escalade hit a parked sedan while backing out of a parking spot. Members tried to flag down the male driver who continued to drive away. Members subsequently located the suspect vehicle at a residence. The male driver was issued several tickets. The suspect was sober but admitted he saw police but didn’t stop as he had to get to work…… even though he had obviously driven home.
August 1
2:17 a.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Complainant reported a possible break and enter to a neighbour residence; residence should be empty and there are lights on. Member attended, residence secure and appeared empty, though luggage was visible inside. Previous owner had passed away, member suspected family had been at the residence.
4:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported that he was being threatened by his neighbour over money owed. Complainant claims he borrowed money and is slowly paying it back, but his neighbour makes troubling threats once he has been drinking. Complainant did not want charges, only requested the neighbour be warned. Member warned the suspect that if he continues he’ll be charged and suggested small claims court if he’s unsatisfied with the current repayment schedule.
August 2
12:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported banging outside, believed someone was trying to break into her shed. Member attended and found no signs of any damage or attempted entry to the shed. Neighbourhood inquiries found a neighbour who had been moving a lot of trash outside.
8:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – Member observed a male with warrants at the location, male took off and wasn’t located. While on scene a female who was intoxicated in the parking lot was told to go inside, which she did. As members were leaving she came back out and began causing a disturbance by yelling, swearing and arguing with another female. Members placed the female under arrest to be held until sober. While searching the female items were located which lead to her facing two new charges. The female was released when sober to appear at a later date.
August 3
2:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported her ex took money out of her business account and wants him charged. Member determined it was a previously shared business account, making charges problematic. Complainant then advised that the suspect has been contacting her in breach of his release conditions. Under investigation.
