Alberta RCMP App – The AB RCMP mobile app is now available as a free download through the Apple App and Google Play Stores. The app does not track or monitor users in any way. It provides easy access to Online Crime Reporting, Crime Mapping, Detachment information, Project Lock Up, Crime Stoppers, as well as RCMP news and social media accounts.
Surveillance Camera Registry – If you have a surveillance system at your home or business, you can register it with the Drayton Valley RCMP to help officers identify locations that may have valuable evidence to aid in investigations. April 20
3:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Request from Alberta Health to assist with an apprehension warrant for a person not complying with a community treatment order. Member located the male, apprehended him and transported him to a designated mental health facility for treatment.
April 21
9:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported a male knocking on his door who he knows has warrants. Complainant told the male to get lost. Members patrolled the area but the wanted male wasn’t located.
April 21
1:12 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole/Cynthia area – Complainant reported a truck on a lease site that didn’t belong. Members attended and determined it to be a worker attending for a service issue in his own truck.
10:10 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reports that a known wanted male keeps coming to his place, complainant doesn’t answer. Complainant explained that he “accidentally” agreed to drive the male to Edmonton to sell copper wire, a decision he now regrets as he doesn’t want to “associate with thieves”.
1:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a 911 call originating in a parking lot. Complainant had called for her mother, due to ongoing family dispute. Members attended and were told of some ongoing issues and tensions. Nothing criminal, referral made to an appropriate agency.
April 22
8:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle and trailer parked by the bottle depot. Member attended and determined that it wasn’t suspicious. Driver had stopped to rest as he had recent surgery.
April 23
2:30 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Members responded to a report of suspicious vehicle at a lease site. On arrival two suspects were located trying to leave the area. Investigation determined that the site had been entered and tools hastily left behind. The two males were arrested and released at the scene to appear in court at a later date. Evidence was seized to support charges.
6:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported that an elderly dementia patient tried to choke a nurse and was upset about the food quality. Member spoke to staff and determined they just wanted the incident documented.
April 24
3:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that a male tenant hadn’t been heard from for a week or more and people have been unable to reach him. Members attended and located the 64-year-old male deceased in the room. Not suspicious, file turned over to the Medical Examiners office.
8:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex area – Complainant reported youth trying to break into a shed by the ball diamonds. Member attended, youth located and identified. All had been in the area but denied trying to break into anything. Member located a piece of rebar nearby and the shed appeared to have been previously entered and possibly used by a squatter. Youth warned and their parents identified.
11:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Weyerhauser mill – Complainant reported a male trespassing. Member attended; suspect male provided two different names to police but was eventually identified as 48-year-old Darren Tomczak, formerly of Camrose. Tomczak was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on outstanding warrants from Edmonton as well as a new charge for Obstructing a Peace Officer. Tomczak was released by a Justice of the Peace to appear at a later date.
April 25
8:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported that a neighbour witnessed a man wearing all black run out of her house, jump the fence and run off down the alley. This had occurred the previous evening. Nothing appeared to be missing, suspect might have been scared off by a barking dog.
10:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Court House – Complainant called to report being assaulted by his ex’s lawyer after family court. Complainant described being swatted on the hand in a dismissive “I’m done with you”. Complainant only wishing to have this documented in case it escalates. Member did not investigate due to the legal principle of “De Minimis”; Latin, essentially translated to mean that the law doesn’t concern itself with trivial matters.
6:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR74A – Member conducting a foot patrol near the County ball diamonds located a suspicious trailer in the bush. Member determined the plate didn’t match and a query of the VIN showed it was registered to a company. Member contacted the company owner who advised it had been stolen 4 or 5 years earlier. Trailer recovered, under investigation.
10:03 p.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on her son and her niece. Member attended, niece stated that the complainant’s son was causing issues due to him being drunk and requested he be removed. As he is a resident on the property and not committing a crime, members were unable to remove him, but did direct him to remain in his travel trailer and away from his cousin.
April 26
12:00 p.m.– Drayton Valley – 43 St – Member attended Frank Maddock HS after a report that a number of students from another school were following a youth who was walking. Member determined that the youth being followed had made some inappropriate comments relating to a recent traumatic event. School administrators will work together to meet with some of the students involved.
12:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley 56 Ave – Complainant believes his dog was stolen, possibly taken by animal control. Member spoke to the Bylaw Officer who said he had not taken the dog, but that the dog is a known escape artist and often on the loose. Under investigation.
5:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 42 St – Complainant reported he had located a confused elderly male wandering. Member attended and identified the male and then returned him to his residence. Referrals made to the male’s wife to assist with a deteriorating situation.
