Brazeau County council is getting updates on emergency services in the region.
At County council’s June 21, 2022 meeting, council received the statistics for March, April, and May from the Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Fire services.
Over those three months, the fire department received 103 calls. 44 were in the county, 43 in Drayton Valley, 15 to provincial highways, and three in Breton.
Of their calls in the county, 24 were fire calls, 15 were alarm calls, 10 were calls to assist another agency, two were motor vehicle collisions, and two were miscellaneous.
At the same meeting, Brazeau County council officially voiced their opposition to the creation of an Alberta Provincial Police force.
Council approved a motion to join the National Police Federation to call on the Government of Alberta to stop the idea of a provincial police force. Instead, they suggest the funding would be better spent on underfunded critical services in Alberta.
The National Police Federation is the RCMP’s union, and has been leading the charge against the creation of an Alberta provincial police force.
