The Town of Drayton Valley has launched a new program to help keep the town clean.
The Town is taking applications for the Community Clean-Up program.
Drayton Valley’s Public Works department is looking for volunteer groups to help tidy up the town’s parks and public spaces.
Some of the areas in Drayton Valley targeted for the Community Clean-Up program include the 4S Skatepark, the Omniplex Parking Lot, and various wooded greenspaces. You can also choose areas near where you work, or in your neighbourhood.
Once you sign up, the Town will provide your group with a map of the area you’ll be cleaning. Garbage bags and vinyl gloves are also available. Once finished, you can drop off full garbage bags at the Town’s Public Works West Yard at 5415-53 Ave. The Town will then ensure it is properly disposed of.
The Town will recognize your hard work by posting your submitted photos to its social media pages and publishing them on the Town page of the newspaper.
In a statement, the Town calls the program a great way for local businesses and community members or groups to get out and contribute to the vibrancy of the town by improving the quality of the environment for everyone’s enjoyment.
