
Brazeau County has its finances in order for 2022.
At Brazeau County council’s May 3 meeting, council set their tax rates for 2022.
There is no tax increase from 2021. Brazeau County has not increased taxes for residential or farmland since 2015.
Brazeau County is also continuing its 30 per cent rebate on municipal taxes for residential/farmland and commercial properties. The rebate is applied at the time of complete payment of taxes by June 20, and does not change the municipal tax rate.
Brazeau County is showing its support for the Drayton Valley Food Bank Society.
At Brazeau County council’s May 3 meeting, council approved a $10,000 donation to the society for new equipment.
The funds are dependent upon the County receiving a proof of purchase from the society for the new equipment.
Brazeau County is giving a helping hand to aspiring farmers in the region.
The Drayton Valley 4-H Beef Interclub’s Achievement Day is coming up on May 30. At Brazeau County council’s May 3 meeting, County council approved $1,852 of in-kind support.
The in-kind support consists of helping to set-up and take down at the Drayton Valley Omniplex, including removing the straw and manure.
Brazeau County is also contributing $1,000 in funding to the club.
Brazeau County is continuing to develop a plan for natural burials.
Brazeau County council has directed administration to apply to the Green Burial Society of Canada for the Green Burial Service Provider Category 1 designation for the Lodgepole Cemetery.
Administration will also be revising the County’s cemetery bylaw with the necessary changes, and bring back cost estimates for consideration in the 2023 budget.
