The Town of Drayton Valley is offering more support for seniors.
In a video recently posted to her Facebook page, Drayton Valley Mayor Nancy Dodds announced she attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Seasons Drayton Valley Retirement Community. The ceremony was held on Dec. 9, 2021.
The ribbon-cutting was to celebrate Seasons’ expansion to include 24 new supportive living Level 4 (SL4) suites.
Announced by Alberta Health Services in November 2021, SL4 suites are for people with more complex medical needs, such as chronic disease management. They also offer assistance with daily activities, such as meal assistance, mechanical lift or two-person transfers, and medication assistance.
In her speech at the ceremony, Dodds welcomed this addition to the community.
“Council and I believe that providing quality care to our seniors is extremely important and that this higher level of support allows our residents to stay in our community and closer to their loved ones,” said Dodds.
Alberta Health Services’ goal is to have 40 SL4 beds in Drayton Valley.
