The Town of Drayton Valley has paved the way for a new addictions treatment centre to come to town.
At council’s Jan. 19 meeting, council approved the rezoning of the lot at 5219 – 53 Ave to allow for the Opportunity Home Treatment and Recovery Centre to move in.
The lot needed to be zoned for a Care Facility to allow for Opportunity Home.
Town administration spoked quite highly of the location, as it is on the outer fringes of downtown Drayton Valley, with close access to a variety of community services.
Drayton mayor Nancy Dodds welcomes Opportunity Home to the Town, as they join a number of other organizations dedicated to helping the community.
“I think through encouragement, education, and empowerment by just working together, we can definitely make Drayton Valley a safer and healthier community,” said Dodds.
In the application to the Town, Opportunity Home plans to renovate the existing building on the site to provide bedrooms for their clients. No word on when the renovations will begin.
