Parkland County residents are invited to share their input on a proposed data processing facility at an open house this week.
From 3-7 p.m. on Oct. 7, residents can drop in to the Keephills Community Hall to ask questions and provide feedback about the project.
The county says the open house, hosted by BGRE, formerly Brookfield Properties, will focus on the overall development concept, including stripping and grading activities.
The applicant, BGRE and CPP Investments, is required to provide a “What We Heard” report to county council as a part of its development review process. County officials say a development application is expected in the coming months.
In February this year, BGRE and CPP Investments entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with TransAlta for a large-scale data processing facility at TransAlta’s Keephills site, known as the Boreal Technology Hub.
If approved, the development would have an initial power allocation of 230 MW, supplied through Phase One of the Alberta Electric System Operator’s Large Load Integration. That allocation is expected to expand over time. TransAlta would supply the site and power supply, while BGRE and CPP Investments would lead development activities.
