A Parkland County resident and a Drayton Valley resident were recently arrested following an alleged vehicle theft in Edson.
At about 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 28, Edson RCMP responded to a report of a truck being stolen from a residence in the 53 Street area of Edson.
Police say footage showed a male and female entering the driveway and trying the door handles on vehicles before the male entered a truck; the female reportedly stood guard at the road.
The truck was then allegedly stolen and left the area, heading east.
The vehicle was located with assistance from Evansburg RCMP, Whitecourt RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services and the RCMP Real Time Operations Centre. Police say they also located a getaway vehicle with two females inside; the male suspect was located shortly after by a police dog.
As a result, a 24-year-old Parkland County resident was charged with theft of a motor vehicle. She was brought before a justice of the peace, remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson on Oct. 20.
A 26-year-old Drayton Valley resident was also charged with theft of a motor vehicle. He was also brought before a justice of the peace, remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Edson on Oct. 20.
A second female was also charged but was released from the scene on an undertaking. Her charges have yet to be sworn in court.
The Edson RCMP says the investigation is ongoing.
