September 10
2:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a female for failing to appear in court.
2:40 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported that a family member entered onto a property he had no legal access to and stole game cameras. Member investigated, and a male was arrested and charged with mischief, theft and extortion. The male was released on conditions with a court date.
4:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a pickup due to equipment violations. Investigation resulted in the male driver being issued a provincial impaired driving suspension for driving under the influence of drugs.
4:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported suspected drugs left behind by a customer; drugs to be picked up for disposal.
5:55 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported cattle in the ditch west of Range Road 92. Member attended and was unable to wrangle the cattle but did contact a leaseholder of the land involved to advise them. The cattle were happily munching on grass and not actively on the highway.
6:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/North Saskatchewan River – Complainant reported getting his truck stuck while trying to cross over to a gravel bar. Members attended, and the truck was freed from a potential watery grave with assistance from a Good Samaritan with an appropriate truck. To summarize: the Toyota got stuck but got unstuck when the Ford showed up, which also eventually pulled out an ambulance, which also got stuck; which was, in fact, mighty neighbourly.
September 11
7:34 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Member on patrol located a plate on a vehicle that it did not belong on. Member spoke to the owner of the plate, who then determined their vehicle had a plate from a stolen vehicle attached. Plate seized from the vehicle.
10:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence for a report of a verbal altercation between a mother and adult daughter. Members remained until the argument had settled; the daughter was at the residence to pick up belongings.
10:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to turn in a restricted firearm that belonged to her deceased father. Firearm to be destroyed.
10:40 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a pumpjack motor and other items stolen from a lease site. Occurred over the past month.
11:38 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported the theft of copper wire and a motor from a lease site.
5:09 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver on Highway 624, vehicle was last seen turning into a field.
5:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St N/Hwy 22 – Complainant reported being rear-ended at the light by a pickup. Member attended and located both waiting in nearby parking lot. Member determined the pickup was the same vehicle reported in the previous file. Member determined the driver was not impaired, though possibly having medical issues. Paramedics transported the male to hospital. Unfortunately for the complainant, it was also noted that he had an arrest warrant due to $7,500 worth of unpaid traffic fines. Fortunately, he was able to use the “phone a friend” option and the fines were paid, avoiding a trip to jail.
9:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Staff reported a group of teens in a store making a mess and causing a disturbance, ongoing for a couple of hours. Members attended and spoke to a group of teens in the parking lot who claimed it had been other youth and “definitely not them.”
September 12
12:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff at the bar reported a group of patrons arguing and about to fight. Members attended and found that the groups had separated. Members encouraged those involved to leave the area.
2:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Paramedics requested assistance for a male who had been stabbed. Members attended a residence where the potential victim had entered, despite not knowing anyone at the home. Paramedics treated the male for a relatively minor wound and transported him to hospital. Investigation was hampered by varying accounts of what occurred and where due to minimal information from the victim. Members believe the injury may have occurred earlier (see previous file) when the male was involved in an altercation at the bar. Under investigation.
2:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested assistance with an uncooperative patient (see previous file). Member attended and found that the male wanted to leave without being treated. Member advised the male that he could leave, but after some discussion he decided it was in his best interest to stay.
7:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported males trespassing in a business yard. Member attended the area but did not locate the two suspects.
7:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reported suspicious activity at a residence with vehicles coming and going. Member spoke to the complainant and suggested they call when such a vehicle is in the area. Potential suspect identified who is known to have family in the area.
10:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Beckett Rd – Complainant reported a suspicious male was knocking on his door just before 2 a.m., but the complainant was not home. Male believed to have been the victim from the file reported at 2:05 a.m.
2:53 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported that she hadn’t heard from her ex since early August, which was unusual as he normally called every month. Members investigated and the male was located deceased at a remote location where he had been staying in an RV. Death not believed to be suspicious. While on scene members also recovered a U-Haul box van that had been stolen earlier in the year in Red Deer.
4:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park area – Complainant reported two boys had been sliding off the roof of his shed and threw a rock at his door. Complainant reported chasing the boys off his property. Member patrolled the area but did not locate the two boys.
6:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female stole a jacket containing a passport from outside a motel. Members attended and identified the suspect, but the complainant was not concerned about the stolen jacket. Some guidance was given on how to replace the passport. Members spoke to the female several times after the theft, but she did not appear to be in possession of the jacket or passport and did not remember taking it.
6:51 p.m. – Yellowhead County – North of Cynthia – Complainant reported trespassers on a lease site. Members attended but the suspects had left the location.
8:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported 6 males taking pictures of her while she was working. Members attended but the group had left and were not identified. Staff advised to trespass the group should they return.
11:51 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that her stolen AirPods had pinged at a residence about five days earlier. Members attended and spoke to a resident who was cooperative but unable to locate the AirPods.
September 13
1:50 a.m. – Cynthia – Members responded to a 911 call from a female stating she needed help; a male could be heard yelling in the background. On arrival members spoke to the female away from the residence. She disclosed elements of several offences. Members attended a nearby residence, but no one answered the door. A warrant was obtained to enter the home, where an intoxicated male was arrested without incident. The suspect was charged with multiple offences: forcible confinement, assault, sexual assault, failing to comply with a probation order, intimidation and causing animals unnecessary suffering. After a telephone bail hearing the male was remanded in custody.
9:08 a.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reported a U-Haul stuck in the mud behind the Lodgepole transfer station. Complainant suspected the occupants were suspects from the file reported at 6:51 p.m. the previous evening. Members attended and identified the pair who were subsequently arrested and charged for offences identified at both locations. A 31-year-old female was charged with nine counts of either failing to comply with a probation order or failing to comply with a release order, one count of break and enter, one count of possession of break-in tools and one count of possession of a controlled substance; she was remanded in custody after a telephone bail hearing. A 39-year-old male was charged with possession of break-in tools and break and enter. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
11:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a disturbance in a parking lot. Members determined that a set of adjustable dumbbells had been purchased on Marketplace and that the purchasers became angry as they didn’t believe the dumbbells worked properly and were accusing the sellers of being scammers. Members suggested the purchaser calm down, which he did. The purchaser then figured out the dumbbells were working fine and apologized.
12:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St – Complainant reported locks and a chain cut from a gate, presumably to access an adjacent property.
3:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Complainant reported seven “lighted stand-up flowers” stolen from her yard, occurred sometime over the previous night.
5:01 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complaint received that a female with an ankle monitor was not at her approved residence; the only exception allowing her to leave was for medical attention. Member located the female at the hospital receiving treatment for a claimed ailment. The female was told to provide proof to her parole officer or be charged.
8:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Two complainants attended the detachment to report being assaulted days earlier by a male acquaintance. Under investigation, charges pending.
September 14
9:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a male in a Ram pickup took a jug of windshield washer fluid from a gas station and did not pay for it. Under investigation.
10:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – School resource officer (SRO) advised that an inappropriate image of one teen had been shared by another. SRO investigated and the matter was dealt with between parents and the school.
10:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her son had taken keys to a vehicle she owns and may have been joyriding in it. Member investigated and spoke to the youth’s father and determined he had been given a different story about his son’s activities that night, believing he had been at his mother’s overnight (some wool had been pulled over some parents’ eyes). The youth was arrested for taking a motor vehicle without consent and released with a court date.
12:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested assistance in obtaining some belongings from his mothers’ residence. Assistance provided.
2:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Members attended a location to assist paramedics with a female who reported being assaulted by her ex. Investigation led to a male being arrested for assault causing bodily harm; he was subsequently released on conditions with a court date.
September 15
12:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested a well-being check on his two children who live with their mother due to concerns about care of the children, recent domestic violence and possible breaches by his ex’s current spouse. Member attended and found nothing concerning and no evidence of breaches by the current spouse. CFS also notified of the findings.
12:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported ongoing online harassment by another female. Under investigation.
12:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported a rental trailer stolen from a yard at 4:45 a.m. The trailer was located later in the day abandoned at a business on 50 Street South. Under investigation.
2:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being in a field and having plans to harm herself. Member located the female and determined there was a lot going on in her life, but that she was not actually planning to harm herself. Member arranged for a family member to pick up the female and stayed with her until that person arrived.
7:31 p.m. – Brazeau County – Member on patrol observed a car narrowly miss causing a head-on collision due to an unsafe pass. Member caught up to the vehicle and observed it collide with a pickup while attempting another unsafe pass. Traffic stop conducted, during which the driver provided two breath samples, and both resulted in “fail” readings. The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension, a violation ticket and his car was impounded.
9:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members called to assist Drayton Valley Fire Department with a fire in a hotel. Fire apparently caused by a faulty bathroom exhaust fan. Attending members were fascinated by the cool big red trucks.
7:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported his electric bicycle stolen while he was shopping; occurred between 6 and 7 p.m. Under investigation.
9:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Team Auctions Center parking lot – Complainant reported that a group of about 15 other young people were yelling at her and some friends while in the parking lot. The suspect group had since left in several vehicles. Under investigation.
September 16
12:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female again potentially breaching conditions, as her ankle monitor showed her walking around town and not communicating her intentions. Member located the female at a hotel where she was arrested. The female was then held for a telephone bail hearing for failing to comply with a release order; she was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
9:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her bank account had been hacked and some suspicious activity documented. Under investigation.
7:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Request to assist paramedics with a female walking around in her birthday suit. There were also reports she had been causing a disturbance at a local bar. Members located the known female who appeared to be under the influence of illicit drugs. She was arrested and held in cells to sober up. Sufficient clothing was provided.
10:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her son had returned home, kicked the door in and then left on foot. Complainant reported that he returned a second time to grab a skateboard, slammed the door and left. Member attended but the complainant did not want her son charged. Patrols in the area failed to locate the youth. See September 14 at 10:29 a.m. for a related report.
