According to the latest RCMP report, overall persons and property crime appears to be decreasing in Drayton Valley.
Between April and June of this year — Q1 for the RCMP — the Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment recorded 43 assaults, down from 46 during the same period in 2025, but up from 28 in 2022. One sexual assault was reported in the quarter this year, down from four last year.
Incidents of criminal harassment also fell from 26 counts last year to only nine this year.
The detachment reported 70 total incidents concerning persons crime in the quarter, down 28 per cent from 97 in 2025.
Six break-ins were reported during the quarter, only down from eight last year, but down from 25 compared to the same period in 2022. Meantime, incidents of mischief causing property damage rose to 24 from 17 last year, but were down slightly compared to 29 in 2022.
The detachment recorded eight motor vehicle thefts in Q1 of this year, up from six last year but down from 19 in 2022.
Thefts under $5,000 reached 36 counts this year, down from 42 in 2024 and 58 in 2022.
Across all categories, there were 137 property crime incidents in Q1 this year, down by 10 per cent compared to 153 last year.
