August 27
9:57 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a break-in to a residence last occupied by his son. Complainant reported two incidents at the same property: the first happened Aug. 14. A potential suspect name was provided. Member investigated but found insufficient grounds to charge, and the named suspect denied involvement.
12:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Bear Lake area – Complainant reported cable and batteries stolen from a lease site.
2:13 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported a lease site break-in that occurred over the past three weeks.
8:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Third-party complaint regarding one youth assaulting another. Under investigation.
August 28
9:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a deceased male. Death not suspicious; medical examiner declined to investigate further. Next of kin notified.
9:44 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Members responded to two calls, the first for a male and female arguing in the trailer park and the second for a female in distress near the store on 50 Avenue. On arrival, it was determined to have been a medical issue, and the female was transported to hospital by paramedics.
10:39 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported another resident in the hamlet was trapping cats and dropping them off in another location. Under investigation.
11:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an attempted break-in to a garage. Suspects were scared off by a tenant in the residence.
4:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her daughter was the victim of identity fraud, as someone applied for a driver’s licence in her daughter’s name while she had been hospitalized. Member unable to reach mom or daughter for more information.
5:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported an intoxicated male sitting on the front steps of a location he had no association with. Member attended, and the male was picked up by a family member.
8:14 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver who had struck a trailer with his vehicle. Members attended and arrested the male as he had an outstanding warrant requiring payment of a fine. The male was also issued a provincial impaired driving suspension after it was confirmed he had been driving impaired. After being lodged in cells he was transported to Edmonton Remand Center due to the unpaid fine.
11:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female making annoying prank calls to a restaurant. Unable to identify the suspect and the area code indicated it was from Atlantic Canada.
August 29
1:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that he was on the way to his ex’s residence to pick up their children as her current partner was apparently intoxicated and being aggressive. Members attended and arrested the male as he had an outstanding warrant. The male did not comply with lawful demands by both resisting and assaulting officers. He was eventually taken into custody for the warrant as well as on new charges of resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with probation. After a telephone bail hearing conducted by a justice of the peace, he was released with conditions and a court date.
1:32 p.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported finding an ATV partially submerged on the south bank of the river. Member queried the provided VIN and determined it belonged to a male who lives in the area. Member spoke to the owner who advised he got the ATV stuck on an earlier trip to the river. He was unable to return to retrieve the ATV for a couple of weeks, and when he did go back, he couldn’t find it. Member provided the location so the owner could retrieve it.
6:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an acquaintance had taken her ATV. Members located the male who stated he had previously been allowed to use it. Members advised the male to return the ATV and keys, which was later confirmed to have happened.
9:55 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Members attended for a report of a cougar seen near residences. Patrols were made but the cougar was not located.
11:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported two males in a burgundy Ram pickup tried to cut her off in the bar parking lot and were waving at her. The suspects then tried to stop another female before leaving the area. No licence plate number was obtained and patrols in the area did not locate such a truck.
August 30
1:31 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a disturbance outside a residence. Members attended and determined that a male suspect had allegedly assaulted his spouse and then hit her while trying to escape in a vehicle. The suspect then left the scene on foot. Members located and arrested the male nearby; he was held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of assault with a weapon, impaired driving, breach of a court order and taking a motor vehicle without consent. He was later released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
9:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an old school bus parked near a lease site on private property. Members aware of the bus and owner; owner agreed to move the bus. Member confirmed this was not an adventure being led by Ms. Frizzle on the Magic School Bus.
2:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Members responded to a report of a truck in the ditch. On arrival, members found a single-axle tanker truck had rolled into the ditch and that the driver had been ejected. Paramedics and fire assisted, and the driver was transported to hospital in Edmonton by STARS with critical injuries. It did not appear that the driver had been wearing a seatbelt.
6:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Third party complaint received that one male had been assaulted by another. Member investigated and attempted to locate the suspect without success. The suspect attended the detachment the following morning, where he was arrested and released on conditions with a court date.
7:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her son may have been drugged by possibly swallowing a pill in a drink from a restaurant. Under investigation.
August 31
11:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her son and a friend took keys and the registration to several vehicles. The suspect friend denied any knowledge of this and the items reappeared the next day.
11:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Team Auctions Centre parking lot – Complainant reported his wallet stolen from his car, occurred in the previous two hours. Under investigation.
September 1
8:51 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested a well-being check on a male who had sent concerning emails to a government agency, suggesting he may harm himself. Member attended and spoke to the male, who explained he is experiencing financial and medical issues but was not going to harm himself. Member provided some contacts for local resources that may be able to help.
6:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported her red Mitsubishi car had been stolen sometime after 5:30 a.m. Under investigation.
8:09 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 N – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle doing 153 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The driver, who was “not paying attention to her speed” was issued an appropriately expensive violation ticket.
September 2
8:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported several vehicles parked at a repair shop were entered overnight. Under investigation.
8:43 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a domestic assault that occurred a couple days previously. Complainant did not want to provide further information, only requested the incident be documented.
1:22 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a bill paid fraudulently from his credit card. Under investigation. Complainant had also spoken to his bank.
1:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported a fifth wheel parked on a business lot earlier in the morning. The plate number provided belonged to a business in Calgary and was suspected to have been stolen. Member attended but found that the suspicious RV had since been removed by unknown persons.
2:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – School resource officer was advised that the previous day, a known female entered the school and stole a child’s bicycle helmet. The following day, the suspect’s child arrived at school wearing the helmet, which was then returned to the correct owner. School staff requesting the suspect be warned.
10:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a silver SUV hit a shopping cart, which was then propelled into a pickup truck; the SUV then left the area. Members patrolled the area and located the SUV at a nearby restaurant. Based on observed offences in the vehicle, members arrested both occupants and conducted a vehicle search. The search located drugs, break-in tools and other drug paraphernalia. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving suspension due to suspected drug impairment. He was also arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on charges including failing to comply with a probation order, possession of break-in tools and possession of a controlled substance. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace. The parked pickup truck was undamaged by the shopping cart.
September 3
2:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle seen driving erratically, but the driver fled at high speed; a pursuit was not initiated at the time. Members were able to continue tracking the vehicle until it stopped at another location. A second attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but it again fled. Members were able to follow from a distance and eventually located the car on Range Road 83, north of Highway 621, where the driver had gone off the road and been partially ejected. The intoxicated male driver was transported to hospital for treatment. Member attended the hospital and issued the driver a provincial impaired driving suspension as well as a summons to appear in court on charges of flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
7:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 63 St – Member attended a card lock for a report of an abandoned and possibly stolen pickup; complainant provided a licence plate number which confirmed the truck was stolen in Crossfield the day before. Complainant further stated that several males had been trying to boost the truck. Members attended and arrested three males who were trying to get the truck started. Investigation led to a 40-year-old male being charged with possession of property obtained by crime related to the stolen pickup. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody. A 24-year-old male was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, held for a telephone bail hearing and also remanded in custody. The third male was released without charge.
