Two residents of Thorsby and Calmar were recently arrested following a traffic stop near Leduc.
Around 1:30 a.m. on June 17, Leduc RCMP’s Integrated Community Safety Unit was conducting patrols and observed a vehicle in a parking lot on Discovery Way.
Police say a traffic stop was initiated, and the vehicle was searched due to illegal items seen in plain view. As a result, police reportedly seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a can of bear spray.
A 27-year-old female Calmar resident and a 30-year-old male Thorsby resident were arrested and face the following charges:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a controlled substance
Both individuals were released on an appearance notice and are to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc on Aug. 13, 2026.
