A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Brazeau County, near the Brazeau Dam, Cynthia and Lodgepole.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon along the foothills and move eastward into the evening.
These storms may produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, officials say.
The ECCC warns that heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significantly reduce visibility, while strong winds can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.
Large hail can also cause significant damage and injury.
