The Central Alberta Forage and Livestock Association (CAFLA) will host a free rotational grazing workshop on July 9.
The event will be held at the farm of Mark and Lynne Raines, located six kilometres west of Breton at 47507 Range Road 4-4.
The workshop will take place in the field and include a pasture walk, where participants will learn how to use a grazing stick and complete a pasture scorecard.
CAFLA executive director Tatyana Pavlovets says the workshop is geared toward producers who are new to rotational grazing or have questions about getting started. She adds that while the Raines are happy to share their experiences, they are also very humble as they are continuing to learn better practises themselves.
The workshop, hosted in partnership with CAFLA’s North Grazing Club, runs from 4 to 7 p.m. and includes a free barbecue following the pasture walk.
The event is free, but preregistration is required by clicking here.
CAFLA’s south grazing club will be hosting a similar event in Clearwater County on June 30.
