Canada Day festivities are just one week away in Drayton Valley.
Next Wednesday, July 1, residents can join the town in celebrating Canada with a parade, family-friendly activities and fireworks.
First up is the Air Cadet Pancake Breakfast running from 7-9:45 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion #269 (5204 51 Avenue). Breakfast is $10 per person and only cash will be accepted.
Then the annual Canada Day Parade, organized by the Drayton Valley Lions Club, starts at 10 a.m. Floats will line up along 43 Street, proceed west on 50 Avenue to 50 Street, then turn north onto 50 Street, until Industrial Road.
Motorists should note that road closures will be in place before the parade begins.
At the Team Auctions Centre, plenty of activities are running from 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Attendees can enjoy an opening ceremony, bouncy houses, carnival games, glitter tattoos, a photo booth, a barbecue, popcorn, cotton candy and face painting. Live entertainment will be provided by Maria’s Magic Bubble Show and Sound Academy.
It all wraps up with a fireworks grand finale in Lions West Valley Park at dusk, or around 10:45-11 p.m.
