Update #1: June 22, 9:21 a.m.
The Village of Breton says the water restriction will be reassessed around 1 p.m. today.
Officials report that levels in the lagoon ponds have been adjusted in accordance with Alberta Environment regulations, and water on the road by the elementary school has gone down greatly since last night.
Despite the challenge, officials also report that the infrastructure is holding up well.
The village says it understands the inconvenience that comes with such a restriction and thanks residents for their patience.

The Village of Breton has issued a water restriction for the community due to high amounts of rainfall.
As of 8 p.m. on June 21, residents are asked to flush and use water sparingly, avoid showering or bathing, and avoid using the washing machine or dishwasher.
Village officials say the lagoon is facing a “losing battle” due to the rainfall, but they are working to transfer water between ponds to alleviate stress on the system.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Edmonton region received 95 mm of rain and Stony Plain saw 123 millimetres, prompting water restrictions in those communities as well.
