A fire restriction for Brazeau County and Drayton Valley has been reduced to a fire advisory.
Under the advisory, outdoor burning is permitted only with a valid fire permit or in an approved fire pit or burning appliance.
Other permitted burning includes:
- Internal household fireplaces
- Farm and acreage incinerators
- Burn barrels (steel/metal drums no larger than 45 gallons on agricultural lands)
- Charcoal barbecues
- Bylaw-compliant backyard and camping fires
- Portable propane fire pits and appliances
- Fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas
The advisory went into effect on June 2, and officials say it will remain in effect until conditions improve.
