An Evansburg resident has been charged with manslaughter after the victim of an alleged assault died in hospital.
On May 27, Evansburg RCMP responded to a report that a suspect hit someone with their pickup truck near the Pembina Arena, put the person in the back of the truck and drove off.
Police located the victim, who was taken to hospital, and the suspect was arrested and remanded into custody.
Police say the victim, 46-year-old Danielle Sanders, also of Evansburg, died in hospital on May 28. An autopsy ruled the death a homicide.
As a result, 52-year-old Neil Gow has been charged with manslaughter. A previous charge of aggravated assault was withdrawn.
Gow is scheduled to appear at the Evansburg Court of Justice on June 8.
The RCMP says its investigation of the incident is ongoing.
